17th – 20th September 2026
Lanaken, Belgium
Since 1995 the up-and-coming generation of young show jumping horses has gathered in
Domein Zangersheide for the FEI-WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championships for Young
Horses, held for five, six and seven-year-old horses.
The Championships highlight the connection between breeding and sport,
providing an excellent showcase for the latest developments in breeding across the
world. Each year a large number of young horses – some of the very best from the
participating breed societies - compete here under uniform conditions.
As of 2026, the FEI and WBFSH have introduced changes to the Jumping
World Breeding Championships for Young Horses. Minimum Eligibility Requirements have
been introduced, and the heights for the five- and six-year-old horses have been
amended.
The heights are now:
- 5-year-old horses
- Qualifiers: 1.20m (previously 1.25m)
- Final: 1.25m (previously 1.30m)
- 6-year-old horses
- Qualifiers: 1.30m (previously 1.35m)
- Final: 1.35m (previously 1.40m)
- 7-year-old horses
- No changes to the current format or heights.
These updates reflect the ongoing discussions between the WBFSH, FEI
and stakeholders across the sport, initiated in response to increasing focus on
age-appropriate demands, horse welfare, and greater clarity and consistency in the
framework for young horse competitions.
The 2026 Championships are scheduled to take place from the 17th – 20th
September 2026.
Information regarding the championship can be found on the FEI website
The schedule will be updated when the information is available
