  • At the WBFSH GA-2021, the WBFSH welcomed new board member Renai Hart (NZHS / NZL) and her executive Katy Holder-Vale (BHHS / GBR).

The New Zealand Hanoverian Society is a relatively new member of the WBFSH, having joined as a full member in 2018. It is the first time we have a board member from the Southern Hemispheres.

Renai Hart’s involvement with Dressage in New Zealand has been extensive, holding positions such as Vice President and Show Secretary for many years with Dressage Waitemata. She stood down from these roles so that she could focus on building her stud River Park Farm where, amongst a select group of brood mares, she stands 3 imported breeding stallions: Swarovski (OLDBG by Sandro Hit x Don Gregory), and Hanoverians Worldly (HANN by Weltmeyer x Brentano II) and Limonit (HANN by Lancier x Weltadel). She is also co-owner of Charlotte Dujardin’s Gio (KWPN by Apache x Tango), who won double Olympic Gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Katy Holder-Vale is one of the founding figures of UK Warmblood breeding, and has been active in the industry for more than 40 years. Amongst other qualifications, she is an accredited judge for the German Hanoverian Horse Society, including Stallion Licensing, Mare Performance Test/Grading. A British Hanoverian Horse Society committee member for more than 20 years, she was elected as Chairman of BHHS in 2011, and she represents British views on Hannover International. Also in 2011, she received the Honour certificate in recognition of worldwide success of British-bred Hanoverian Horses. She is also a senior evaluator with the British Breeding Futurity program, which allows her to engage with breeders across all the British studbooks.

A breeder herself, she owns Witcham Farm Stud. In 1984 she acquired her first Hanoverian stallion, Glücksfall, whom she competed to Grand Prix. In 2004 Classic Juan (Crazy Classic x Don Juan) joined Katy’s stud. He received a progeny award in 2006. In 2008, his daughter Classic Prada, bred by Katy, was awarded the then highest Futurity mark of 9.75 with three 10s. Katy also owns Flammengold (Florestan I x Parademarsch) whom she used to compete herself & who has had a significant impact in British breeding. By 2019, 92 of Flammengold’s UK-bred progeny presented at Futurity.

The WBFSH welcomes Renai and Katy, who will be heading the Department of Development.
