Whilst the seven-year-olds completed their consolation rounds in the Ratina Z-Arena, the six-year-olds were back in action today at the familiar Ramiro Z-Arena. From 09.45, they were given one last chance to make their mark during this edition of the FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championship for Young Horses. The fences were once again set at a height of 1.35m and, this time too, the horses jumped against the clock, making for another thrilling battle for victory.
A total of 133 pairs took to the start line for this consolation round, and the top prize went to the French rider Thomas Leveque and the mare Chaccolina van ’t Huka Z, a daughter of Chacco Blue and Hors La Loi II bred by Katrien Hulsbosch. Leveque and Chaccolina van ’t Huka Z kept all the crossbars neatly in place and, with a finishing time of 55.91 seconds, they too had a lead of well over a full second over the competition.
Swedish rider Viktor Edvinsson took second place in this consolation class for six-year-olds with the Swedish Warmblood mare Bibi Race, a daughter of former Olympic Champion Big Star and Corlensky G, bred by Mary Johansson. Edvinsson and Bibi Race clocked a time of 56.99 seconds after a clear round.
Third place went to Danish rider Helle Moeller Andersen on the Danish Warmblood mare Maskedals One of A Kind, a daughter of Numero Uno and Favorit ASK, bred by Lene Larsen. After a clear round, they clocked a time of 57.24 seconds.
The other two places in the top five of the rankings were taken by the Dutch rider Zoi Snels on the KWPN mare P-Extra WS (Emerald van ’t Ruytershof x For Pleasure – breeder: Waaij Stud) and the Irish rider Taylor Peare on the Irish-bred mare BP Indiana (Mylord Carthago HN x Diamant de Semilly – breeder: Gbbs Int Ltd).
