  • In the small final of the six-year-old dressage horses at the FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses, presented by HBA Thomas Ehrengut, La Jolie SW OLD secured victory and thus a ticket to the final. Second and third place went to Oldenburg's Emoji JCD SL and the Dutch O'Toto van de Wimphof. These two are also qualified for the final on Saturday.

With 86.20 percentage points, La Jolie under Carina Scholz improved her result from Wednesday's qualification by 3.6 percent. “She really comes into her own in the arena and wants to show what she can do, “ explained the rider, “ but in the qualifier she was a little overwhelmed by everything going on around her and was a bit shy. Today was much better and now I hope that she will feel a little more comfortable in the arena on Saturday and perform even better.” La Jolie SW OLD, daughter of Escamillo, has been in Carina Scholz's stable for about six months and quickly won the trainer's heart. “It's a really cool feeling to ride her,” says Carina Scholz. “She is a real mare and has a mind of her own. You need a bit of tact and sensitivity to find the right way forward together,” she laughs, “but today we managed it really well.” The mare impressed with her energy and elasticity, although she was still a little shaky in the contact here and there. “She still lacks a bit of strength,” says Scholz. The dancing mare impressed the judges with her expressive trot in particular, receiving a 9.0 from the judging panel. Other individual scores included 8.5 for walk and canter, 8.4 for submission and 8.7 for prospects. La Jolie was bred by hobby breeder Sabine Wehle, who continues to own the mare. Wehle has bred several foals from the Hanoverian dam Laissez-Fair by Londonderry, all of which have been successful, but La Jolie is the first to compete in a World Championship.

The Emilio son Emoji was presented by French Olympic rider Corentin Pottier. He was bred by Stefanie Löhmann out of a foundation dam and is owned by Camille Judet Chéret. With individual scores between 8.4 and 8.7, Emoji received very consistent ratings throughout, finishing in second place with a total of 85 points. Third place, with 83.20 percent and the last ticket to the final, went to O'Toto van de Wimphof, ridden by Dutch championship and Olympic rider Diederik van Silfhout. Glock's Toto Jr. is the sire of the bay, the dam is by Riccione, he is owned by the Kramer, Rienks and van Uytert partnership and was bred by Carla Rienks-Kramer.

This means that all 15 World Championship finalists in the six-year-old dressage horses have now been decided. The final will begin on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Verden's Horse24 Arena.
