  • We hereby present the sire rankings for the FEI competition year 2019/20 in the three disciplines jumping, dressage and eventing.

Despite the fact that the frequency in international shows has been much lower in the second half of the FEI competition year 2019/20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Top 10 sire rankings in dressage and jumping have not changed a lot. It seems that the same top competition horses are producing top results, hence the same sires representing the top of the rankings. However, we do have new entries.

In the Top 10 for dressage sires we have two new stallions. The Florestan son Florencio I has moved up from 11th place to 5th place this year and the Sandro Hit son San Amour has now positioned himself in 9th place coming from 16th spot last year. Johnson by Jazz has surpassed his sire and is now a new No. 1 in the dressage sire rankings. Vivaldi by Krack C has moved up three spots whilst Don Schufro by Donnerhall has moved up from 10th to 8th. De Niro by Donnerhall has been No. 1 no less than six times. Last year he was 4th and this year he has dropped to 10th place.

In the jumping sire rankings we see little change. For the third consecutive time Chacco-Blue by Chambertin is No. 1, Diamant de Semilly by Le Tot de Semilly is 2nd and Cardento by Capitol 8th. They have been able to keep their position from 2018 and through 2019. However, we also see one newcomer in the Top Ten for jumping sires which is the son of Diamant de Semilly, Diarado who has jumped from 20th place last year to position 10 this year. The high-jumper in the Top 10 rankings in Mylord Carthago by Carthago coming from 10th to 4th place. The popular sire Cornet Obolensky by Clinton has dropped out of Top 10 this year.

In eventing nothing stays the same. The challenge with the eventing rankings is that many competitions are not registered with pedigree information or they are not registered in a WBFSH-studbook. However, the top five stallions were also in the Top 10 last year. They are Grafenstolz by Polarion, Diarado by Diamant de Semilly, Jaguar Mail by Hand in Glove xx, Contendro I by Contender and Obos Quality by Quick Star.
